Platán Bistro

The Platán Bistro and Platán Manor are located next to Tata’s favourite tourist route, in a unique natural environment on the shores of Old Lake, between the Tata Castle and Esterházy Castle, in the shadow of the eponymous 232-year-old plane tree.
Our terrace offers a picturesque view of the Old Lake, with Vértes mountain in the background. Our restaurant offers a selection of dishes, pastries, cakes and ice creams prepared with the best kitchen equipment in Hungary.

Donát Mogyorósi

HEAD CHEF

In January 2023, Donát Mogyorósi took over the kitchen management of Platán Bistro from Gergő Futó. In the last 10 years, he worked in top restaurants in Budapest; the most defining 3 years of his career were his first head chef position at Olimpia Vendéglő.

During his stagiaire time at Platán, he had the opportunity to take a closer look into István Pesti’s work.
Donát returned to our restaurant in 2023. Using his skills and experience, and working with sous-chef Ferenc Nagyváradi, as well as the renewing team, their goal is to create
the same taste-smell-sight experience at an outstanding level every day.

“Since the beginning of my career, I have followed the work of István Pesti, I consider him as a role model.
I have always found his recipes and his philosophy on gastronomy inspiring. He also had a great influence on me during my career path, because even though as a teenager I was more attracted to sports, especially rugby, I ended up choosing the world of cuisine, which turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life.
I had the chance to intern at Platán many, many years ago, and it was such a decisive experience for me that when I had the opportunity to came back as a head chef to Platán Bistro, I snatched the chance.
This position is a great honor for me. In addition to preparing high-quality food, my main goal is to continuously maintain a cohesive team spirit, which can proudly represent the quality associated with the name Platán.”

Our restaurant features our own pastry and ice cream kitchen. The selection of locally made pastries also turn the bistro into a cozy confectionery.

We strive to use fresh, self-grown or regional ingredients, whether they are of animal or plant origin.
